P-Cards Save an Estimated $75 Per Transaction
The Wyoming School Boards Association has partnered with PFM Financial Services, Inc. to offer a Purchasing Card (P-Card) program to governmental entities in the state of Wyoming. Use of P-Cards has seen a dramatic rise in recent years with many organizations now using them to earn cash back on purchases and gain efficiencies. P-Cards are much like a consumer credit card. Overall, P-Cards provide a means for streamlining the purchasing process, allowing organizations to purchase goods and services in a timely manner, reduce transaction costs, track expenses, take advantage of supplier discounts, reduce or redirect staff in the purchasing and/or accounts payable departments, reduce or eliminate petty cash, eliminate 1099’s and more.
P-Cards provide significant internal controls on spending and efficiency in payments. There is $0 liability for lost or stolen cards and employee misuse insurance is included. There are no annual card fees and the program is easy to implement. Many start out by just introducing to a smaller group and expand from there.
There are over 85 standard reports available which allows entities to analyze spending. Training for use of the reporting and setting internal controls is readily available, also at no cost.
