Superintendent of Schools

Platte County School District #1

Wheatland, Wyoming

Platte County School District # 1, Wheatland, Wyoming, is accepting applications for a superintendent of schools.  The successful candidate should possess high moral character and meet Wyoming 's requirements for school superintendent, successful teaching and educational administrative experience preferred. The successful candidate is expected to inspire and lead a school district that expects and supports a comprehensive educational program for its students.   Salary will range from $115,000 to $130,000 and include a comprehensive benefits package.

Platte County School District No. 1 encompasses three communities in Southeastern Wyoming ; Wheatland, Chugwater, and Glendo.   The district offices are located in Wheatland which is the county seat of Platte County .   Wheatland is the largest community of the three with a population of approximately 3,400 people.

The communities set amid farms and ranches that are irrigated by the largest privately owned irrigation system in the country.  The Laramie River Station power plant is located in the district and represents one of the largest consumer-owned region joint power supply programs in the United States .

Recreational opportunities abound and include excellent fishing and water sports.   Sightseeing, rock hunting, snowmobiling, hiking and camping can be found a short drive away in the Medicine Bow National Forest and the Laramie Peak area. Situated on North/South Interstate 25, the communities have easy access to Cheyenne , Casper and Denver , Colorado . 

The School District ’s mission is empowerment through learning so students can be successful now and in the future. The district offers a well rounded course of study and students score well on state and national assessments.  Each of the communities have K-12 schools with a total district enrollment of approximately 1,062 students.  The three communities are very proud of the accomplishments of their students.

Upton, Wyoming

Weston County School District # 7, Upton, Wyoming, is accepting applications for a superintendent of schools.  The successful candidate should possess high moral character and meet Wyoming 's requirements for school superintendent, successful teaching and educational administrative experience preferred. The successful candidate is expected to inspire and lead a school district that expects and supports a comprehensive educational program for its students.   Salary will be not less than $95,000 and provide a comprehensive benefits package.

Weston County School District No. 7 is located on the western edge of the Black Hills .   Upton, Wyoming is a small, friendly community which has been known since the early 1900’s as “The Best Town on Earth,” a phrase which inhabitants sincerely believe. Upton boasts of a nice nine-hole public golf course, tennis courts, a swimming pool and a beautiful city park.   Winter activities include snowmobiling and cross country skiing on miles of spectacular trails.  In the fall some of the world’s best pronghorn and mule deer hunting is available.  The school district boundaries contain considerable reserves of petroleum, natural gas and bentonite.  Ranching is a significant local activity. Rapid City , South Dakota (111 miles), Casper , Wyoming (173 miles) and Gillette , Wyoming (47 miles) are the closest major towns.

The School District

Weston County School District # 7 is comprised of approximately 768 square miles with an estimated population of around 1,000.   The District offers an exceptional educational program to its 277 students in grades kindergarten through twelve.  The community is proud of the scholastic accomplishments of its students.   School activities serve as an important part of the overall school program as well as providing the social activities for the entire community. All schools in the District are accredited by the Wyoming State Board of Education and the North Central Association.
