WYOMING SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION
Established 1945
The Wyoming School Boards Association, formed in 1945, has
been working over fifty years to serve school board members
throughout Wyoming. The association was formed to "...assist
local school board members to increase their own understanding
and effectiveness in the jobs they have to do for their
respective communities."
Wyoming school board members thought there was a need for
boardsmanship training and a corresponding need to become more
knowledgeable about education and school operations. They met and
decided to form the Association which was to provide professional
training for school board members and to serve as a collective
voice for school boards throughout the state.
Communication is the most important function of the Wyoming
School Boards Association. Communication with the state
legislature in behalf of member boards, communication between
school boards and their publics, and communication with
individual school board members and other organizations.
